Methodology
- Live FX is aggregated from open.er-api.com, refreshed hourly. Market rate — for the CBN official, see cbn.gov.ng.
- Pump prices come from the NBS Premium Motor Spirit Price Watch monthly bulletin (PMS + AGO + DPK).
- Bus fares are scraped weekly via Playwright from carrier booking sites (GIGM live; others deep-link only).
- /how-much bands come from one of two sources:
- Jiji.ng listings — median of N real seller-posted prices per query, refreshed weekly via FlareSolverr. 25-75 percentile range published.
- AI market estimate — typical range from market knowledge for verticals Jiji doesn't cover well (school fees, gov fees, services). Always clearly labelled as estimate.
- Product prices are scraped from major Nigerian retailers daily. Matched against a canonical SKU catalog so the same product across stores can be compared apples-to-apples.
- Single-price collapsed bands (e.g. cement showing ₦9,000 with no range) reflect Jiji listings being tightly clustered — sellers in price-matched commodities like cement converge to one number.
